Sometimes, "get well soon" messages aren't the half of it.
Some illnesses get children before they're born. And they live with them all through their childhood. Some mums can't care for their children, because they are so permanently unwell. Mothers' Union resource and train carers who go to people's homes, and help people with HIV/AIDS to take care of themselves, stay healthy, keep on track with their medicine and stay positive as they live with their condition. Sudan and Malawi's Mothers' Unions run an amazing Literacy and Development scheme. Our trainers - Sudanese and Malawian women - work incredibly hard training the facilitators of local communities' literacy circles.
