How Make a Mother's Day works...

Mothers' Union is working through a grassroots membership of 4 million people to support families and communities around the world. We believe families are central to community life - this Mothering Sunday, as you remember your mother, we are asking you to do something a little different. Instead of flowers or a box of chocolates why not buy her an ethical gift that will support another mother? Give a gift that gives twice over.

Will you stand with mothers all over the world, and give an ethical gift this Mothering Sunday? Whatever gift you choose you can know that it will be funding our work in some of the world's most deprived communities. Each gift represents a part of the cost crucial to running a Mothers' Union project. With your help we hope to raise over £100,000 for vital projects in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as globally. A gift, however small, can make a real difference to a mother's life.

IMPORTANT: This year Mothering Sunday is on Sunday 18th March 2012 so please ensure you place your orders by Wednesday 7th March 2012 so we can send you the card in time.

Four easy steps to giving your Mother's Day gift

By giving an ethical gift this Mothering Sunday you will be supporting the work of Mothers' Union around the world. Each gift represents part of the work that Mothers' Union is funding this year.

View the 'Choose a Gift' page and add your chosen gifts to your shopping basket by clicking the 'Add to Basket' button. You can choose more than one gift and buy the same gift more than once. You can be assured that each gift represents the amazing work that Mothers' Union is doing with families throughout the world.

You can then see the gifts you have added to your Shopping Basket on the 'View Basket' page. If you are happy with your gift selection then you can proceed to the Checkout page where you can enter your details into the order form. Please remember to tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK tax payer. This will mean that your gift will be worth 25% more at no extra cost to you (see the Gift Aid section below). After you have completed your order form you will then be taken to a secure page where you can enter your credit/debit card details to pay for your gifts and complete your order.

We will then send you a Mothering Sunday card, unless you request 'No Card'.
See below if you asked for your 'In Memory' card to be displayed in the chapel at Mary Sumner House.

You give the card to your mother. Alternatively you can give a gift in memory of your mother, as a tribute to a life-time of caring. For all 'In Memory' gifts we will display a card with the name of your mother in the chapel at Mary Sumner House. You will be able to visit the chapel the week before and after Mothering Sunday to view the 'In Memory' cards or we can send the card directly to you.

Can I Gift Aid my gift?

Please do! Gift Aid increases your donation at no cost to you (for UK Tax Payers only). For every £1 you Gift Aid, Mothers' Union can claim an additional 25p (providing this is more than or equal to how much tax you've paid altogether this year). Many pensions allow Gift Aid too - please check if yours does before you leave the Gift Aid section blank.

Even if you send one donation as a group, Mothers' Union can reclaim individual Gift Aid if each tax-payer signs a Gift Aid declaration (available from the main Mothers' Union website) - just remember to each give a signature and home address, and write the amount you contributed.
