How it works - a quick guide to buying your ethical gift
How each gift works...
Each make a mother's day gift enables Mothers' Union to support and care for mothers and carers. We won't send goats to your doorstep! When you give a gift from the catalogue, you are giving a virtual gift. So with a goat project gift, you resource a goat project being set up by Mothers' Union members in Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi or Kenya. You can know where it's going and what it's buying: feed, a goat pen, vet injections, training or more baby goats. Mothers' Union is a grassroots network - so our overheads are almost the lowest in the charity sector. A small proportion (around 3%), of your gift covers the actual costs of delivering the assistance to a family in need, including the expertise of the Mothers' Union development worker in that area. It wouldn't get there without this bit!
What will I receive?
Unless you request 'no card', we'll send you a 'Mothering Sunday' card depicting the provision of the gift you choose. If you order a card 'In Memory', you'll receive a card inscribed, "In memory of a special mother, Mothering Sunday 2010", and with details of your chosen gift.
When will my gift card be delivered?
The deadline for orders to reach us, if you want your card by Mothering Sunday, is the Thursday before Mothering Sunday, Thursday 11th March 2010, post allowing. If you want to send your card on to someone for Mothering Sunday (not give it to them by hand), get your order to us by Tuesday 9th March 2010.
Can I Gift Aid my gift?
Please do! Gift Aid increases your donation at no cost to you. For every £1 you Gift Aid, Mothers' Union can claim an additional 25p (providing this is more than or equal to how much tax you've paid altogether this year). Many pensions allow Gift Aid too - please check if yours does before you leave the Gift Aid section blank. And even if you send one donation as a group, Mothers' Union can reclaim individual Gift Aid if each tax-payer signs a Gift Aid declaration (available from the main Mothers' Union website) - just remember to each give your signature and home address, and write the amount you individually have given.
Am I safe making a payment online?
Absolutely! Our online payments are handled by SecureTrading on a secure server.
