Practical help at times of crisis £3

This gift will go towards supplying food, blankets, mosquito nets and other emergency supplies to areas affected by drought, violence or natural disasters. Where Mothers' Union members are on the ground they can assess the need and get supplies to the right place and at great speed.

During the drought in East Africa relief funding provided maize and beans to families in desperate need. Your £3 will help a mother feed her family at a time of crisis.

Technology top up £5

Communication and embracing new technology is key to supporting communities all over the world. This gift provides grants to Mothers' Union volunteer trainers to go towards internet access and mobile phone costs. Trainers travel great distances, often alone. Having a mobile phone means they can get help quickly and contact other trainers for advice and support.

A gift of £5 could top up your phone but would also mean that trainers can communicate with others to help them do their job so much better.

Just the ticket £9

Putting fuel in the tank or paying bus fares may not seem as rewarding as funding a village education programme, but without it we simply couldn't be there to help! This gift will mean that Mothers' Union Community Development Coordinators can access isolated families and communities to offer training and advice.

Your gift of £9 will help pay for a travel grant so that Community Development Coordinators can get to the communities in great need.

Support a volunteer £10

We rely on thousands of volunteers across the UK and Ireland to carry out a variety of community projects, from offering out-of-school lunchtime facilities for teenagers to supporting families affected by imprisonment. They work tirelessly in their own time because they believe that supporting families is the best way to build strong communities. Our members are a shining example of what can be done, through local projects, to help the vulnerable and needy.

Your gift of £10 will give volunteers the resources and support they need to keep doing the amazing work they do.

Bereavement care and support £13

You may know what it is like to lose a loved one - the loss of a parent can be overwhelming. At this difficult time in one's life, bereavement support can provide strength and hope. Mothers' Union supports families who have lost a loved one by training our members to become bereavement supporters. They can help people find new purpose and comfort in their darkest moments.

Your gift of £13 will help train a member to be able to support families at their time of loss.

A better environment £18

Your gift will help communities sustain and improve their environment. Women are encouraged to build enclosed stoves to save on fuel and help protect their eyes from smoke. Facilitators train communities to collect and save rain water as well as work to improve soil. This means they can grow more crops and improve their health and nutrition.

A gift of £18 will give communities a better environment now and for future generations.

Train a leader £22

By training a leader you are helping to inspire individuals within their own communities. They develop skills, vision and a strategy to find local solutions to local problems. It means that communities are transformed today and for the future.

A gift of just £22 helps pay for two months of leadership training. Volunteers are then equipped to help lift a whole community out of poverty.

On the job training £30

Being a Mum or Dad is the one job you don't get training for and yet it is the most important job you will ever do. This gift helps train a facilitator so they can run parenting groups all over the world. Each group deals with the issues that are relevant to that community. Without the volunteer facilitators the programme simply would not run.

A gift of £30 will give parents the support they need - on the job training.

Sums for mums £40

If you know basic literacy and financial skills you will not be cheated at market, and you may start to save and invest through a 'savings and credit group'. Groups of women in Sudan, Malawi and Burundi are being equipped with financial skills. They learn how to work together to reach a common goal. Relationships are improved and women can play an effective part in their communities.

Your gift of £40 will help mothers learn vital financial skills - skills that are helping to change lives.

A mum where there is no mum £100

In Uganda there are 1.2 million* children who are orphaned by HIV/AIDS. In many cases older siblings have to become mum. The Family Life Programme encourages these families to come together to identify the issues they face and to work out solutions. Home based carers regularly visit families to help them understand medication and check on the welfare of those with HIV. They also help the children with their schooling, learn how to play, and provide a listening ear for young people carrying a burden of care and responsibility way beyond their years.

A gift of £100 will help train a home based carer to support families who have nowhere else to turn.
